Foundational Requirements

  • Hold a Private Pilot Certificate.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a valid 2nd class medical certificate and a current flight review.

Flight Time Specifications

  • Amass 250 total hours of flight time, with:
    • 100 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC), including 50 hours in airplanes.
    • 50 hours of cross-country flying.
    • 20 hours of dedicated training, split as:
      • 10 hours in a complex or technically advanced airplane.
      • 10 hours focusing on instrument flight training.
    • 10 hours of solo flying, sharpening your skills independently.

Essential Training Materials

  • Access to Sporty’s Commercial Pilot Training Courses or work alongside your certified flight instructor to gain ground training.
  • Study aids including the Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Airplane Flying Handbook, and the most recent FAR/AIM.
  • The Commercial Pilot Airplane Airman Certification Standards (ACS) will guide your training objectives.
